Goal setting and maintenance

A successful school reflects on the school mission throughout the year. As a leader, think about what a five-year, three-year, and one-year plan should look like.

All faculty should be involved in these conversations. When a school does it together, faculty and staff can articulate the expectations of everyone in the school—and most of all, the expectations that all students can do high-level, rigorous, and interesting work that will prepare them for college and the interconnected world beyond.

Here is a tool that will facilitate discussions about what’s working, and what needs attention. Share it with your faculty and staff and ask them to spend some time thinking about each prompt. Use faculty meeting or other collaborative work time to discuss ideas and arrive at consensus.
