Chen Gang

Cheng Gang is the Chief Correspondent of Global Times. He has been a journalist since graduating from Fu Dan Univeristy School of Journalism in 1987, and joined Global Times in 2001. Cheng Gan has an impressive profile in covering regional warfare and military conflicts. During the time from 2006 to 2008, Cheng went to Lebanon, Israel, Iraq and Darfur to cover the military conflicts and local warfare in these specific regions. In the year 2010, while sailing with a Chinese fishery patrol boat in the Diaoyu Island waters, they were confronted by Japan Coast Guard with their patrol boats and patrol aircraft. Cheng became the first Chinese journalist who gave on-the-ground correspondent of Sino-Japan dispute. Earlier this year, Cheng went to Tripoli and Benghazi to report on the Libiyan civil war, and also spent sometime in covering the “Color Revolutions” in the Middle East. Cheng is a also a veteran in covering significant domestic and international events and emergencies, such as “East Turkistan” in Xinjiang, 2008 Sichuan Earthquake, and territoriy distpute between China and Russia, China and Burma, and in the South China Sea. Cheng has also traveled to dozens of countries and made a great contribution to international news coverage.
