Regional Groups
So many times in our experience, Chinese language teachers in US schools cite isolation from their fellow practitioners as a primary frustration or challenge, and we would like to offer more opportunities for professional growth by learning from each other.
Accordingly, we have begun the process of organizing several working groups (primarily by state or region) and will convene online introductory meetings in November. Since most of our Confucius Classrooms are secondary schools, we will organize most of these working groups by region – after all, teachers in the same state are likely to have the same standards and assessments, and those in the same geographic areas will have the easiest chance of being able to visit each another’s classrooms. For the elementary schools, we will organize a special working group that focuses specifically on their needs.
Our meetings will be conducted by using the videoconferencing software called iMeet. Our first working group imeet session for each group will occur between Nov 29 - Dec 6.
All indicated session times are Eastern Standard Time (please note any time difference for your location). We will conduct one iMeet session per working group according to the time option that works best for the majority of teachers in that group.
