Bill Melton
|
Co-founder; Chairman of the Board of Directors,
GIV
For more than 25 years, Mr. Melton has been an entrepreneur building
global technology companies. Prior to founding GIV, Mr. Melton
was a founder, CEO and Chairman of Cybercash, Inc. (NASDAQ: CYCH),
a pioneer in e-commerce transaction systems. In 1994, Mr.
Melton co-founded Transaction Network Systems (NASDAQ: TNSI), a
nationwide network dedicated to efficient transportation of financial
transactions. Mr. Melton was the initial seed investor in
TNSI and remained a member of the Board of Directors until it was
sold to PSINet in 1999 for approximately $750 million. Mr.
Melton was the original founder of VeriFone, Inc., the transaction
automation company that has made credit authorization terminals
ubiquitous on retail merchant counters throughout the world
VeriFone was sold to Hewlett Packard in 1998 for approximately $1.4
billion. Mr. Melton was also an early investor in America
Online (AOL) and until recently served on its Board of Directors.
Mr. Melton remains an active seed investor in India, China and the
U.S., and currently serves on the Boards of Directors of several
private early stage technology companies. Mr. Melton is also
on the advisory board of the Indian CEO High Tech Council, an organization
in the Washington, D.C. area comprised primarily of CEOs with an
Indian heritage. Mr. Melton holds a Master·s degree in Asian
Studies and Chinese philosophy.
