Dr. Sakarindr Bhumiratana

Senior Specialist, National Center for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering

Dr. Sakarindr Bhumiratana obtained his bachelor degrees in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (Highest Honor) from the University of California, Davis, USA and his doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA. After a post-doctoral position at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, he took on a teaching and research career in Thailand. He was the Chairman of the Department of Chemical Engineering, was involved in the setting up of the Division of Biotechnology, the Food Engineering Department and the Pilot Plant Development and Training Institute of King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Thonburi, and was the Director of the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), Thailand. Currently he is the Senior Specialist of BIOTEC, the Senior Vice President (Administrative Affairs) of the King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), and the President of Food Science and Technology Association of Thailand. He also lectures at the Chemical Engineering Department and directs the Chemical Engineering Practice School of the KMUTT. His research interest in in Food and Bioprocess modeling, Transport Phenomena and Anacrobic processes. For nearly a decade, he has directed rural development project which runs agro-processing industry as a core to rural development activities in Thailand.
