Summary of Unit
In this unit, students will learn Cai Wenji’s story. They will be able to identify elements of the Chinese lifestyle during the Han dynasty and also with the Xiongnu nomads. Students will be able to discuss how Wenji’s identity was influenced by the economic and political circumstances of her time. From Wenji’s story, students are encouraged to further examine the stories of immigrants today.
