Tea in China
一。 Introduce students to several boxes of tea, and teach students to identify the different kinds of tea, such as 绿茶，红茶，乌龙茶，and 花茶.
二。 Conduct a tea party in the classroom. Demonstrate how to brew tea by bringing in tea and tea utensils.
Invite the students to taste various kinds of tea and compare the smell, color, and taste of different teas. 绿茶是什么味道？香，苦，濃，淡, etc.
三。 Use images to introduce tea farms and different kinds of tea, integrating the following vocabulary and grammar points:
茶园，山上，高山茶，花茶， 普洱茶， 种类，产地，种

四。 Give students a reading assignment in English or simple Chinese that describes the regions where tea grows. Introduce the regions in class, and have students use Google Maps or Google Earth to find tea-producing regions in China, India, Kenya, Japan, South Africa, Brazil, Russia, Sri Lanka, and Taiwan.
Divide the class into groups. Ask each group to locate the regions where a certain tea is grown and color that region on a map of China provided by the teacher. Then have each group of students share their findings with the other groups. Each group will color and label the map on their worksheet, filling in the new information they learn from the other teams. Reference for classroom teachers: 茶种类 —> 产地 普洱茶 —>云南 龙井茶 —> 杭州西湖 高山茶 —> 台湾 花茶 —> 苏州 红茶 —> 武夷山
五。 A Jigsaw Activity
Divide the class into two assigned sections: an expert group, and an instructional group.
In the expert group the students read, discuss, and develop assigned materials or concepts into a teaching presentation for their peers. After the preparation period, an expert from each group is assigned to an instructional group. Here each expert teaches his or her portion to the others in the instructional group.
Assign a number to each student, proportionate to the class size. For example, if groups of three are appropriate, divide the number of students in the class by three, and give each student the number 1, 2, or 3.
Repeat this numbering throughout the class. Students work within their expert group, then move around the class to find their instructional group. For example, all students with the number 1 work together as one instructional group, all students with the number 2 work together, and so on. Each expert carries out their task and teaches his or her peers.
六。 Using a video (such as the examples in the Teaching Resource below) and others found freely online, share examples of Chinese people drinking tea in their daily life. Discuss with the class the different occasions when Chinese people drink tea.
