Asia 21 Young Leader Wenchi Yu Joins the Suu Foundation

Asia 21 Young Leader WENCHI YU has joined the Suu Foundation as a managing committee member.  Co-chaired by former First Ladies Laura Bush and Hillary Rodham Clinton and established by the Nobel Peace Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi, the Foundation is dedicated to advance the health and education of the people of Myanmar.  The Suu Foundation was formally launched in Yangon on March 9.  For more information about the launch from the Public Affairs Asia, click here; to watch video from the Washington Post, click here.


Wenchi is co-founder of the Banyan Advisory Group LLC, a social capital investment firm connecting the Asia Pacific region to the world via private investment and philanthropy. She earned her B.A. in Political Science from the National Taiwan University and her M.A. in International Relations from the University of Chicago. She has written for the United Nations Chronicle, Asian Wall Street Journal, and Taipei Times. She has worked at Vital Voices Global Partnership, a leading international NGO founded by Hillary Rodham Clinton. She spearheaded the launch of key initiatives such as the APEC Women and the Economy, the Secretary’s International Council on Women’s Business Leadership, the US-China Women-LEAD Initiative, and the mWomen Initiative that uses mobile technology for effective development and women’s empowerment.

Wenchi is an Asia Society Associate Fellow and an Asia 21 Young Leader.
