Zafar Sobhan (A21 Young Leader, Tokyo 2008) has recently launched Dhaka Tribune last month. Dhaka Tribune is an independent media house free from political ties or outside influence. Dhaka Tribune’s focus is on continuous growth and delivery of information at the right time. The idea of starting Dhaka Tribune came since Zafar wanted to serve the young readers of Bangladesh and give voice to the transformation of modern Bangladesh. He aims to promote Bangladesh to the rest of the world and capture the spirit of the youth through Dhaka Tribune within the country.
The Asia 21 network has been of immense support as they have inspired and motivated Zafar in launching the daily. Many Asia 21 Young Leaders from Bangladesh have agreed to contribute regularly to the op-ed pages, which is a key element to the newspaper. Asif Saleh (A21 Fellow, 2012) in particular, has signed up as a featured weekly columnist. Zafar and the Bangladeshi Asia 21 Young Leaders want to lead the road towards change through the newspaper by bringing Bangladesh together as a nation and by promoting a positive Bangladesh to the rest of the world. That said, Zafar would also like to invite the Asia 21 community to contribute occasionally by writing an op-ed for the Dhaka Tribune.
