2013 Call for Nominations

Asia Society is currently seeking nominations for its next class of Asia 21 Young Leaders. The Asia 21 Young Leaders Initiative creates an active network of leaders from every country in Asia and the United States to build relationships, engage in interdisciplinary dialogue and cultural exchange, and develop cooperative responses for addressing shared challenges.

Nominated candidates should:

  • Have demonstrated excellence in the field in which they are involved;
  • Have demonstrated a commitment to values-based leadership and public service;
  • Be fluent in spoken and written English; and
  • Be age 40 or under

Asia 21 Young Leaders represent all sectors including business, politics, civil-society, media, arts & culture and academia. Upon receiving nominations, we will reach out to nominees for further information, including a statement of interest. In a highly competitive process, a selection committee will then evaluate applications and select the 30 young leaders for this year in accordance with various criteria including the candidate’s willingness to devote energy and expertise to tackle the most critical issues facing the Asia Pacific community today.

The selected young leaders will participate in the 2013 Asia 21 Young Leaders Summit in Zhenjiang, China, December 6th-8th, which will convene upwards of 100 Asia 21 Young Leaders from across the Asia Pacific region.

Because a primary goal of the Asia 21 network is to promote relationship building among the young leaders, the participants remain connected throughout the year via a dedicated website, a private Facebook group, a semi-annual newsletter, Google groups, public service projects, and through participation in other Asia Society conferences and projects worldwide. In addition, local chapters are active around the region (Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New York, the Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam) under the Asia 21 banner.

Please send your nominees’ full name, title, affiliation, and contact information (especially e-mail address) in the attached spreadsheet to Mr. Benjamin Linden at [email protected] by Monday, July 1st.
